Day Care

Growing older at home can feel isolating. Days stretch long, meals become solitary, and conversation grows scarce. But it doesn't have to be this way.

Day care at Abafields offers companionship, activity and a proper routine—a chance to spend time with others, enjoy a home-cooked meal, and return home feeling more connected and content.

Day Care

What is day care?

Day care is support for older people who live at home but would benefit from company, activities and a bit of help during the day.

At Abafields, day care means:

  • A warm welcome one or more days per week, whichever suits you
  • Arrival mid-morning and collection late afternoon
  • A freshly prepared hot lunch served in our dining room
  • Activities throughout the day: music, crafts, gentle exercise, reminiscence, games
  • Help with personal care if needed (we have proper facilities and trained staff)
  • A break for family carers who need time to work, rest or attend appointments

Day care fills the gap between living independently and needing residential care. It brings structure, sociability and support whilst allowing your loved one to remain in their own home.

Day Care

Our Approach

Day care at Abafields works because guests become part of everyday life in our home rather than a separate service. When they arrive, they are welcomed with tea and invited to relax in the lounge, join activities, share meals with residents or spend time in the garden.

Our team takes time to get to know each person, their routines, preferences and what helps them feel comfortable, so visits quickly become familiar and relaxed. Days follow a gentle rhythm with activities, a home-cooked lunch, conversation and quiet moments when needed.

For families, day care offers peace of mind. You can work or rest knowing your loved one is safe, well cared for and enjoying their day.

Who is day care for?

Day care at Abafields is for older people who live at home but would benefit from company, routine and support during the day. It suits those who feel lonely or isolated, who aren't eating properly, who need help with personal care, or whose family carers need regular breaks for work or rest.

When is day care needed?
